Black-eared Cuckoo query

Hi Frances

Thanks for your list. Here's a belated reply to your Black-eared Cuckoo query. Locally, they're rarely reported. We'd be lucky to average one record every two years. But in saying that, some odd inland species turned up this winter due to the drought, so no reason Black-eared Cuckoos wouldn't drift east too.

How familiar are you with this species and its call? What other species did you consider and why did you rule them out?

If any doubt, put this one down to experience.

Cheers
Mick
