Sunshine Coast sightings

Had some friends visiting from Adelaide earlier this month so was a good opportunity to take them to some of our favourite SC birding sites. The following species can be added to the Spring Beyond list.

Ewan Maddock Dam, Landsborough 5/9
Great Cormorant
Intermediate Egret
Black-fronted Dotterel
Forest Kingfisher
Sacred Kingfisher
Rufous Whistler
Scarlet Honeyeater
White-cheeked H/E
Blue-faced H/E

Whilst a day-out to Bribie Is and environs on 7/9 gave us:
At Buckley's Hole:
Magpie Goose
Brahminy Kite
Swamp Harrier

At Kakadu Roost:
Chestnut Teal
Aust.Pied Oystercatcher
Beach Stone-curlew
Red-capped Plover
Double-banded Plover
Red-necked Stint
Caspian Tern

And at Godwin Beach:
Whimbrel
Collared Kingfisher

And things were good around home at Maleny as well with:
Pacific Baza 3/9
Wedge-tailed Eagle (pair) 3/9
Aust.Brush-turkey 10/9
Yellow-tailed Black-cockatoo 4/9
Pale-headed Rosella 2/9
Shining-bronze Cuckoo 1/9
Pheasant Coucal 12/9
Southern Boobook 7/9
White-browed Scrubwren 2/9
White-throated Treecreeper 1/9
Spangled Drongo 10/9

A morning walk at the Upper Coochin Creek ER, Beerwah on 16/9 produced:
Spotted Dove
Fairy Martin
Cicadabird
Little Wattlebird
Grey Butcherbird

And a trip to Caloundra on 14/9 gave Spotted Harrier at Meridan Plains and Pied Cormorant at Caloundra Headland.
