White-eared Monarch

Post by Bill Jolly »

Saturday 22 November, 2008.

In Redwood Park, lower entrance, a short way up the trail across the bridge near the picnic tables, around 3.30pm.

Heard its distinctive two note call first, then located it flitting between the trees, with occasional posing. The bird flew across the track several times, calling distinctly each time it landed, also issuing a busy twittering call sometimes.

(Brush Cuckoo calling from the top of a nearby dead tree throughout this sighting, and a male Regent Bowerbird passing overhead at the same time - three or four very busy minutes!)
