Some additions from Lake Broadwater

Post by Rod Hobson »

Folks,

Fellow QPW employees Mark Weaver and Robert Ashdown have just joined me in a windy morning's birwatching at Lake Broadwater near Dalby, SEQ. Plenty of waterbirds there including mobs of Hardhead, Grey Teal, Pink-eared Ducks and a few Australasian Shovelers, Magpie Geese, Wandering Whistling-Ducks, Grass Whistling-Ducks and a pair of Cotton Pygmy-Geese. Also on the water were many Australasian Grebes, a pair of displaying Great Crested Grebes, Eurasian Coots and over 1 000 Whiskered Terns in breeding plumage. Plenty of other of the regulars also present on and around the lake - well worth a visit. Additional species for the "Summer Beyond" list from Lake Broadwater today were:

Hoary-headed Grebe
Great Cormorant
Little Button-quail
Australasian Pipit
Rufous Whistler
White-winged Fairy-wren
Apostlebird
Double-barred Finch

Regards,
Rod H.
