Gavin Goodyear and myself had an early start this morning and headed-out for
the Australasian Bittern recently reported from Lake Clarendon. Weather was
chilly but clear and on arrival we walked around the dam-wall to the
tower-structure. Here we saw a Black Falcon harassing corellas (itself being
harassed by a Brown Falcon) , Baillon's Crake and a very extrovert
Australasian Bittern 'sunning' itself on a bare-patch in the reeds. (27° 31'
06.23''S, 152° 21' 17.59"E)
At nearby Jahnke's Lagoon we had up to 100 Plum-headed Finch and at Lake
Galletly on the UQ Campus there were at least 4 male Blue-billed Duck. On
the other side of the lake we saw a female Blue-billed Duck with 2 duckling
avoid repeated attacks from a Swamp Harrier.

Please contact me directly for further info,

Tom
