Emus

Post by Mick Atzeni »

My workmate Mark Dunlop sent me a photo of a group of emus he saw about 12 km SW of Leyburn on 28 May 2011.

Told him he's a star as apparently he's the only one that's seen emus within 250km of Toowoomba this Autumn.

Cheers

Hi Mick & all

Australasian Bittern sighted 21 May 2011 at 1235 at a dam (within 500m of 28º 35’ 19” S - 153º 08’ 16” E) at my community at Stony Chute (11 km west of Nimbin , NE NSW . I was passing over the dam wall on the tractor when it flushed. It flew from exactly the same position (close to the causeway in reeds and long grass) to exactly the same perch (log in full view protruding from far bank about 25m away) as my one and only previous - and first - sighting of this bird in Feb 09, when I was on foot with binos. Interesting... same individual perhaps?

Sorry about the late posting.
