Chestnut Teal, Little Grassbird and more ...

Post by Mick Atzeni »

Russ Jenkins and I had a productive morning around Wyreema. We picked up some nice birds including three locally rare species in Chestnut Teal, Yellow-throated Miner (nest-building) and Little Grassbird. A pair of Black Falcons hunting a peewee provided a wonderful spectacle. Somehow it managed to evade them, apparently finding refuge on the edge of a dam.

Eight additions for the year list follow:

Chestnut Teal 26/08/15 Wyreema STP
Pink-eared Duck 26/08/15 Wyreema STP
Black Falcon (pair) 26/08/15 Wyreema STP
Yellow-throated Miner 26/08/15 Wyreema-Cambooya Rd, Wyreema
Australasian Pipit 26/08/15 Loves Rd, Wyreema
Zebra Finch 26/08/15 Wyreema STP
Little Grassbird 26/08/15 Wyreema STP
Common Starling 26/08/15 Wyreema STP

Cheers,
Mick
