Some western birds

Post by Rod Hobson »

Folks,

A few for the list:

Black Kite at Doctor's Creek, Jondaryan on 08.12.08.

White-rumped Miner, Dalby-Lake Broadwater Road on 08.12.08.

White-winged Chough and Emu, Kumbarilla S.F. on 11.12.08.

Red-backed Button-Quail observed on the Moonie Highway by Mark Weaver, Mark Cant and me at E 300218, N 6976140 mid-morning of 08.12.08; a male and a female bird crouched in the middle of the bitumen. Gilgies in surrounding area flooded from recent heavy storms and now heavily vegetetated in sedges and grasses. Ideal habitat for this species.

And a pair of Painted Honeyeaters on Moonie Highway about two kilometres from Westmar towards Moonie on 08.12.08.

Regards,
Rod H.
