Turquoise Parrots, Sundown NP

Post by gileas »

Hi all,

Last Friday I made it down to Girraween and Sundown NPs on a wet and cold day to look for birds with a friend from out of town. We had some good stuff at Old Wallangara Rd, including Crested Shrike-tit, Southern Whiteface, Hooded Robin and one of our targets, Diamond Firetail. No luck for me here on year birds however. Fortunately Sundown went slightly better for me, with cracking views of a distributed flock of about 30 Turquoise Parrots near the rangers house at the western edge of the park. Sadly, no luck at all on Spotted Bowerbird, again, so I will have to make yet another trip to the region before year's end.

My current total is now up to 318, with some seawatching and a pelagic to come later this month.

Regards,
Chris
