more for autumn

Post by Andrew Stafford »

I made a trek from Brisbane to spend most of Saturday birding in the Lockyer, mostly around Helidon. This is an area I've spent surprisingly little time in, so a fair bit of the day was spent just following my nose and stopping wherever looked promising, although I did manage to visit a few popular locations. This is my first post on this forum but Mick Atzeni reassures me that interloper sightings are accepted!

Highlights were a beautiful adult Spotted Harrier and a few Zebra Finches along Carpendale Road, and Speckled Warbler at three locations: at the bridge on Air Force Road, along Thomas Road and also 17 Mile Road. I think these are new for your autumn challenge.

I had a most enjoyable day, and will certainly be back to further explore the region.
