Leaden Flycatcher - 2008 return

Post by Mick Atzeni »

Nicci Thompson, Russell Jenkins and I saw a single female Leaden Flycatcher at the entrance to Birdwood Sanctuary, Baxter's Rd, Gowrie Junction, yesterday morning 13/9/08.

I saw another female this afternoon in Laurel Bank Park, Toowoomba (near CBD). Also a Grey Fantail in the same tree. There seems to be a bit of a movement lately of Grey Fantails through town. From past experience they tend to depart the area and the Rufous Fantails move in.

Please keep your eye out for Satin Flycatchers in the next month or so as they pass through, particularly along the creek in Redwood Park and Boyce's Rainforest, on the corner of Mackenzie and Range Sts. The latter is where we picked them up last year.

A pair of Leaden Flycatchers were courting noisily at Abberton on Tuesday, 9 September 2008 - and still are on Monday 15th.
